Peggy Mae (Kellogg) Dean, 97 years old, of Centralia, went to be reunited with her beloved husband and to be with the Lord on Sept. 29, 2022. She was born Dec. 3, 1924 in Huron, South Dakota to Marion Lee and Hazel Eunice (Derscheid) Kellogg. In 1943, Peggy married her high school sweetheart, Russell (Rusty) Burton Dean. On April 9, 2012, they celebrated 69 years together and Rusty preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2013.
Peggy is survived and will be greatly missed by four children, Larry (Judy) Dean, of Centralia, Sandy (Terry) Dellinger, of Rogers, Arkansas, Patti (Bob) Krause, of Centralia, and Ed Dean, of South Jordan, Utah; nine grandchildren Jeff Dellinger, Paul (Erika) Dean, David (Jana) Dean, Jason (Eve) Dellinger, Scott Krause, Krista, (Brian) Walsh, Andrea (David) Garber, Stephanie (Levi) West and Paul (Ashley) Dean; as well as 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She grew up on a farm in South Dakota claiming all the farm animals as her pets. She moved to the Centralia area with her family in 1936, attended Fords Prairie school, and graduated from Centralia High School where she and Rusty met. Peggy loved music, was an accomplished trumpet player, and enjoyed choir and other musical activities in high school and throughout her life.
Peggy worked hard at raising her family while also working various bookkeeping jobs early in her marriage. She then worked alongside her husband at their family dry cleaning business, Rainbow Cleaners, in downtown Centralia. She was later employed by local banks until retiring in 1985. She enjoyed traveling, camping, golfing and other activities including playing card games with friends and family. She and Rusty shared a love of dancing to the music of the Big Band Era.
Peggy loved the Lord. She lived a family and gospel-centered life as a member of the Calvary Tabernacle and First Church of God. She was actively engaged in humbly serving others and devoted to supporting her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids in all their activities. Peggy will be fondly remembered for her beautiful smile and her gentle loving nature.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at My Blue Heaven/Silver Acres senior care facility who have shown great love and compassion to Peggy.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at Central Bible Evangelical Free Church, located at 2333 Sandra Ave., Centralia, Washington, 98531. There will be a reception to follow in the church family life center.
