In Loving Memory of Rhennell Erickson: 1951-2022

Posted

Rhennell Charlene Erickson was born Oct. 11, 1951, in Mahnomen, Minnesota and passed away Nov. 22, 2022, at Tacoma General Hospital.

She graduated from Tenino High School in 1969 and married Steve Erickson in 1972. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past July.

Rhennell is survived by her husband Steve, sister Rhodetta Seward (Jack), and brothers Ron Kainz (Kathleen) and Rhetta Kainz. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Rod Erickson (Wendy), Don Lunzer, and sister-in-law Carol Erickson Schwarz (Larry), along with numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

She was preceded by her parents Alice and Neil Kainz, sister Rhonda Kainz Terry, in-laws Mel and Shirley Erickson, and sister-in-law Bev Lunzer. Rhennell worked for Bank Check Supply for many years until the company's closure. She then worked for Quik Pik and First Street Grocery (better known as the “Penny Candy Store"). Rhennell never came to an event without a bag of penny candy for the little (or big) ones. She was loving, caring and kind. She was the most amazing, doting auntie and best sister and sister-in-law one could ask for, and a loyal employee and friend. She cared about everyone she personally knew, and if they or a family member was in need, she was there. Although her health began failing, she never stopped helping. Rhennell put up a courageous fight to live over the past two years and continued that fight right up to her last breath. Her quiet demeanor yet inner strength left an impression on many.

A very special thank you to the amazing, caring doctors and nursing staff at Tacoma General Hospital who did everything they could for her and her family. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.  A celebration of life in January will be announced at a later date.
