Richard Nye passed away Aug. 24, 2022. He was born June 21, 1944, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Ida (Coons) Nye and George Nye.
Rick attended school in West Springfield. He proudly served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Rick worked for the UPS, Fred Meyer and tried his hand at various other business ventures throughout the years. He was known for his gruff demeanor, but you always knew you could count on him in a pinch.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ida (Coons) Nye and George Nye; brothers, Bill and Tom Nye; and many friends.
Survivors include his three children, Carolyn Wells (George) of Breezy Point, Minnesota; Richard Nye (Annalise), of Shoreline, Washington; and Scott Nye (Laura), of Rancho Cucamonga, California; grandchildren, Annika, Taylor, Karsten, Kaare, Matthew and Joshua; and siblings, Adeline (David) Lapa, of Massachusetts; George (Barbara) Nye, of Texas; and Joseph Nye, of New York; and special friends Crystal and Spence.
The family would like to thank the staff at Park Ridge Care Center for the excellent care Rick received in his final days.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 12 at Sticklin Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Sticklin Funeral Chapel.
