In Loving Memory of Richard Tracy: 1933-2022

Richard A. Tracy was born in Yakima on Nov. 15, 1933, and passed away at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington on Dec. 22, 2022.

Richard graduated from high school in Naches and had a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Central Washington College of Education. He served in the U.S. Army and taught school in Yakima, Olympia, Seattle and Sequim.

Richard enjoyed time with his family and adored his grandchildren. He spent many hours riding his bicycle and enjoyed the outdoors. He especially enjoyed doing art. His art is published in several books and his life as an artist was celebrated in the folk-art film, “Richart.”

He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 66 years; sons Mark (Karen) of Tacoma, and John (Laura) of Weatherford, Texas; his sister Bernice Hodgen of Shoreline; five grandchildren Maleia, Malachi, Micah, Taylor and Kayla; and two great-grandchildren, Ailee and Paige.

There will be a private family memorial. He will be greatly missed.
