In Loving Memory of Richard Wilkinson: 1942-2021

Former Aberdeen resident Richard Lloyd Wilkinson, age 79, of Chehalis went home to be with his Savior on Sept. 2, 2021, while salmon fishing with friends on the Columbia River. 

He was born Feb. 4, 1942, in Franklin County, Tennessee, to Marvin Hulan Wilkinson and Lena Payne. 

At 17 years old, Rich joined the Navy and served from 1959 to 1965 on both the USS Fort Marion (LSD 22) and USS Buck (DD 761). During his time in the Navy, he met and married his first wife Doris Anderson. Following her death, Rich married Rose Hufford, his wife of 34 years. 

Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and camping. He was very active in his local church and carried a burden for witnessing to those with whom he came in contact. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin Hulan Wilkinson and Lena Payne; his siblings Barbara Wilkinson Payne and Lester Wilkinson; and his former wives Doris Anderson Wilkinson and Rose Hufford Wilkinson. 

He is survived by his daughter Jackie Wilkinson Skye; sons Steve and his wife Carmen Wilkinson, Darrin and his wife Jerri Ann Wilkinson and Dale with his wife Teresa Wilkinson; and step-son Mitchel and his wife Chris Culbertson. He had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Sept. 17, 2021, at Faith Baptist Church, Chehalis. Donations in lieu of flowers can be given to Faith Baptist Church Missions fund. 

Rich will be greatly missed, but we know he is home with his Savior Jesus Christ.
