Rodney Cleve Hoyt started his journey in life born to Gene and Beverly Hoyt on Feb. 18, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The family spent time in Arizona before settling in Napavine in 1970.
Rodney enjoyed athletics while he attended school in Napavine. He also enjoyed boating, camping and dancing. Rod always met you with a kind, genuine smile. He was always excited to chat. He always had a great story, an idea or a new venture to talk about. You would lose track of time as the conversations flow into memories. If you were ever having a bad day, Rod was one of those guys who could bring a smile to your face and make you forget any daily problems. His upbeat personality was contagious.
Rod passed away Sept. 20, 2021, and was preceded in death by his father Gene, brother Donnie and his sister Mary.
He is survived by his mother Beverly (Hoyt) McDougal (Buddy); his son Jeremy Hoyt (Alicia); daughter Shannon Hoyt; sisters Kathy Nelson and Gina Bluhm (Shane); brother Alan Hudspeth (Karey); brother-in-law Bob Lundholm; grandchildren Kolby, Braidyn, Michael, Tobias, Tristan, Jacob and Katelyn. He also held a special bond with Shaylea and Spencer Gray, his girlfriend Shelley Likely, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private graveside service will be held at the Napavine Cemetery followed by an open house memorial at the Forest Grange at 3 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2021.
