Roger Stewart died peacefully the morning of Nov. 5, 2021, at Providence Centralia Hospital. He was 75. Roger was born in Seattle, Washington, on Nov. 7, 1945, to his single mother. He attended Foster High School and later, Centralia College. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history and psychology K-12 at Central Washington University. He went on to earn his master’s degree in teaching from Seattle Pacific University. Roger was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, during Vietnam. He married Patty Osborne in 1969. In 1981, Roger and Patty moved from Seattle to Centralia and bought Osborne Jewelry from Patty’s parents, Chuck and Lucille Osborne. The business became Osborne & Stewart Jewelry. Roger became a fixture in downtown Centralia and was involved in the Downtown Association and Rotary. In 1998, Roger and Patty retired from the jewelry business and reinvented a new life for themselves and bought Gallant Lady, a 1940s, 65-foot wooden vessel. They ran a successful charter business through the San Juan Islands until Patty died in 2005. Roger was an entrepreneur and businessman by nature. He was a talented jeweler and gemologist. A teacher. When Roger and Patty bought the charter business, he earned his captain’s license for the massive, vintage vessel that he would successfully own and lovingly operate with his first mate, Patty. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was well versed in scripture. He loved teaching the word and ministering to people in the occult. With his quick wit, brilliant mind and love for family and friends, Roger was loved by everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his mother Daisy, sister Sandy and his first wife and mother of his boys, Patricia (Osborne) Stewart. He is survived by his sister Terry; his sons Jason (Naomi), Jared (Heather) and Joshua (Lindsay); wife Colleen; six grandchildren, Alysia (Zac) Oberg, Colman, Adison, Maxwell, Magnus and Ethan; and four great-grandchildren, Violet, Gracelyn, Huxley and Hayes; sister-in-laws Jan (Eric) Millam and Barbara Clift. Roger’s funeral will be held at the Boistfort Cemetery.
