In Loving Memory of Sherry Travers: 1946-2021

Posted

On July 27, 2021, we said goodbye to our mother, grandmother, wife and friend Sherry Lyne (Moultrie) Travers. Sherry passed peacefully with her children by her side.

Marvin and Clara Moultrie, along with their daughter Karen, welcomed their second daughter into the world on June 24, 1946. Sherry was born in Ogden, Utah, but the family moved to Washington shortly thereafter. Then her little brother Marvin Leon Moultrie Jr. was born. She resided in Washington for the majority of her life.

Sherry attended beauty college and worked as a hairdresser after high school. Her boss, Doris, happened to have a son that was a perfect match for Sherry. Ronald Edward Travers asked Sherry for her hand in marriage just three months into dating, and six months later on May 27, 1967, they were wed. Sherry and Ron shared 51 years together before Sherry lost the love of her life in 2018. Within those years, Sherry and Ron shared many adventures, memories and lots of love. They co-owned Travers Electric, and Sherry ran the home decorating center she opened in the Travers Electric office. They worked hard to grow their business for 28 years before enjoying the rest of their lives in retirement. In their retired years, they enjoyed traveling, time in Arizona, hosting family and friends and buying and selling homes and motorhomes. Between their home in Washington and home in Arizona, she had many friends. Sherry enjoyed crafting, shopping and genealogy. She was always the life of the party, and her laughter could light up any room.

Sherry leaves behind many loved ones including son, Ron Travers Jr. (Kristine), grandchildren Ronny, Cole and Kayla, and daughter Julie Smith (Bryan), as well as grandchildren Charles (Courtney), Cortney (Kacey Torgerson) and great grandchildren Chance, Reid, Lucy, Reagan and Ace.

Sherry will be missed by so many, but we are happy to know she is side by side with her Ron again. We know she is smiling down on us and we will forever be grateful for the time she blessed us with.

Memorial services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 2195 Jackson Highway, Chehalis Washington, on Aug. 20, 2021, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Claquato Cemetery, 142 Stearns Road, Chehalis Washington.
