Vernelle (JoDee) Hemphill passed away peacefully on Oct. 11, 2022. She was 98 years old.
JoDee was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1948, she moved to Portland, Oregon, where she met her husband, John Hemphill. They married in 1949 and lived in Eugene, Oregon for several years before moving to Chehalis, Washington, where John worked at Hemphill- O’Neill Lumber Co.
She was preceded in death by her mother and husband John. She is survived by daughter Christine Copic (Rudi), of Rancho Mirage, California; son William Hemphill (Joan), of Tuscon, Arizona; sisters Betty Bray, of Oceanside, California and Marvene Lutz of Omaha, Nebraska; niece Sarah Smith (John); their children and grandchildren of California; and her dear friend and caregiver Jane Bates.
JoDee was a devout Christian and now is with our Heavenly Father. Her beautiful smile will be missed by many, but she will forever live in our hearts.
