An incoming storm was expected to bring heavy snowfall to the southern Cascades in Lewis and Pierce counties Wednesday and Thursday, the National Weather Service forecasts.

The Chehalis Valley was expected to receive a minor rain and snow mix Wednesday, Feb. 14 through Thursday, Feb. 15, while snow falls in the Cascade and Olympics at the 1,500 foot elevation.

Snow levels in the mountains aren’t expected to meet advisory or warning levels, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter storm watch was in effect from 10 a.m. Wednesday morning through 10 p.m. Thursday night.

No snow accumulation is expected in the lowlands. Southern portions of the Cascade foothills and the Chehalis Valley “may see minimal accumulations” of less than half an inch, the National Weather Service forecasts.
