The 43rd annual chicken races will be held at the Independence Valley Community Hall in Rochester Sunday, June 25.
Lunch begins at noon with the chicken races scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
A hamburger meal will be $10 while a hot dog meal will be $8. There will also be raffle prizes and music.
“It's a great time for the whole family,” organizers wrote in a news release.
The chicken races aren’t what many would assume. Rather than compete against one another in a speed race, judges time how quickly human contestants, with the help of soft thrown items like socks and hats, can get their chicken to run out of a circle.
The Independence Valley Community Hall is located at 148 Nelson Road in Rochester.
All proceeds from the races will go toward upkeep of the hall.
