The Mossyrock boys basketball team couldn't prevent a Wellpinit repeat, as the Vikings fell to the Redskins 60-56 in the 1B state title game on Saturday night in Spokane.

Both offenses came out firing, as the two sides combined for four 3-pointers in the first four minutes of the first. It was the Vikings who were on top 16-15 after the high-flying frame.

The second was just as back-and-forth as the first, and the two teams entered the locker rooms tied at 30 at halftime.

Mossyrock captured the momentum out of the break, as they outscored the Redskins 15-7 in the third quarter to take an eight-point lead into the fourth.

It all fell apart for the Vikings in the fourth, however, as Wellpinit went on a 16-0 run to turn a nine-point deficit into a seven-point lead with a minute remaining. That lead held, and Wellpinit celebrated its second-straight title.

The second-place finish is Mossyrock's best at the 1B level, and it matches the 2016 Vikings, who finished second in the 2B tournament, for the best finish in school history.
