Instant: Napavine loses second straight 2B championship game

Posted

For the second year in a row, the Napavine Tigers left Husky Stadium as the 2B runner-ups.

Okanogan won its second state title in a row Saturday, defeating Napavine 52-21.

Napavine got on the board on its first drive of the game, as Grady Wilson capped a 15-play drive with a 4-yard touchdown run.

Okanogan responded with two deep touchdown passes in the second, including a 39-yard pass on the final play of the half, to take a 16-7 lead into the locker room.

Okanogan quarterback Carter Kuchenbuch scored  three rushing touchdowns in the third quarter to help the Bulldogs build their lead, and while Colin Shields returned a kickoff for a touchdown, the Tigers couldn't keep pace offensively.

Kuchenbuch went on to finish the game with seven total touchdowns, and he had an eighth that was wiped away by a penalty.

Full game story to come.
