Chehalis 10-year-old Kimber Serl was named the 2025 Little Miss Friendly on Tuesday night during a ceremony at the Southwest Washington Fair.

She will serve one year as “the living logo” of the Southwest Washington Fair, taking over for 2024 Little Miss Friendly Hadleigh Westover.

Kimber, whose favorite summer activities include swimming, spending time with her friends and playing with her dog, was given the sash and cape at 6 p.m. Tuesday night on the first day of the six-day fair.

“Thank you all so much,” Kimber said. “I’m so excited!”

She was selected from a roster of five finalists present at the opening of the Southwest Washington Fair on Tuesday morning. The other finalists were Avery Mordick, Harper Paulis, Bentley Pitts and Danielle Stahl.

The Little Miss Friendly finalists shared the Saloon Stage with visiting royalty at the ceremony, including the Lewis County Dairy Ambassador Zeanna Zavodsky, Morton Loggers Jubilee Queen Fairlane Armstrong, Miss Lewis County Madeline Scalici, Miss Lewis County Teen Hailey Sturdevant and Hadleigh.

“Thank you for trusting an 8- and 9-year-old with such an important job,” Hadleigh said to the crowd in her closing remarks. “I hope I respected Little Miss Friendly in a way that made you proud. Being Little Miss Friendly is a big responsibility, but very very fun. Thank you for letting me participate in something so special. I will never forget this.”

Along with the cape, Kimber went home with a new bike and a goody bag with items from Lewis County Coffee and Dairy Dan’s. All finalists received goody bags and tickets to attend fair events throughout the week.

“I can’t wait to see you guys!” Kimber said.

Little Miss Friendly is the official hostess of the Southwest Washington Fair. The Little Miss Friendly program began in 1968 to help market the fair and showcase how the community defined Southwest Washington “friendliness.”

Each summer, the Southwest Washington Fair hosts a contest to appoint the new Little Miss Friendly. The contest is open to girls 8 to 10 years old. The 2025 Little Miss Friendly will spend six days at the fair greeting visitors and promoting the fair. During the year of her reign, she will attend parades, coronations, teas and many more events as the official representative of the Southwest Washington Fair.

The fair will run through Sunday, Aug. 17.

Entrance at the gate for adults costs $12. It’s $6 for children (ages 6-12) and senior citizens (ages 65 and over). Children ages 5 and under can visit the fair for free all week long.
