W.F. West boys cross country placed 15th out of 29 teams at the Curtis Invitational Saturday at Chambers Bay Golf Course, led by junior Jaysen Miles’ 58th-place finish in a PR of 18:28.8.
“He's gaining lots of confidence as he set his goal to go under 18:30 today and achieved it,” W.F. West coach Amber Cruzan said.
Right behind him was senior teammate Henry Jordan, running an 18:32.7 to finish 62nd.
Tenino boys placed 19th, with Carson Hart leading the charge with a 39th-place finish in a time of (18:14.9). Rainier’s top finisher was Dylan Davis, who placed 61st in a time of (18:32.6).
On the girls side, Bearcat freshman Mercedes Ricks was the top local finisher, placing 41st in time of 22:11.6.
“Ricks ran well after spending a good week on the injured list,” Cruzan said.
Sophomore teammates Jaelynn Vail finished 136th (26:46.0), Lia Hornby was 142nd (27:21.6) and Kaitlin Elmore was 152nd (31:12.8).
