Posted

Jean S. McCool, 87, passed away surrounded by her loving family Saturday morning, April 3, 2021, at her son’s Grand Coulee, Wash., home. She was born Thursday, July 13, 1933, in San Diego, Calif., to Henry and Lucille Aldridge.
Jean married Robert Allen McCool in 1974, to whom she was married for 27 years. They moved to Washington State in 1984. Jean was known as “Mean Jean” to the regulars at Joe’s Place in Bucoda, where she loved tending bar for over 20 years until she was 80 years of age. Jean was an active member at VFW Post #5878, American Legion Post #69, Moose Lodge and Eagles #564. All who knew Jean, quickly found that she lived her life to music…” Classic Country” to be exact.
Jean loved horses, dogs, enjoyed dancing, listening to music and truly embraced her friendships. She was most grateful for her family whom she loved dearly. If you were lucky enough to have had the chance to sit a spell with Jean you knew she would always be straight to the point and most likely make you laugh.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Allen McCool in 2001; daughter, Paula Mapps; three sisters; and both of her parents.
Jean’s legacy lives on through her children, Cheryl Mills, Rhonda Tabisz, Tracy Hensley and Dannie Mansker; sister, Adeline Stratton; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021, beginning at 2 p.m., at Joe’s Place, 118 S. Main St, Bucoda, WA 98530.
Strate Funeral Home of Grand Coulee, Wash., is assisting the family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at http://www.stratefuneral.com for Jean’s family.
