Centralia College students and coffee fans will now have a new locally-owned space to study, work, drink espresso and even celebrate special occasions.

Jimmie’s Espresso, a local business that opened its first stand on Tower Avenue in Centralia just over a decade ago, celebrated Monday the ribbon-cutting of its first sit-down coffee shop at 200 S. King St., Centralia, next to the college. Connected to the King Street Cove, the establishment will be called “Jimmie’s at the Cove.”

Above the cafe, Jimmie’s will rent out a venue space. For the grand opening, Gemini Events, an event coordinator, hosted several vendors upstairs selling hair accessories, jewelry and other unique local creations.

During the opening, Jimmie’s owner Emily Domaschofsky was at the bar making drinks for customers. The new coffee shop also held Valentine’s Day sales through the afternoon in celebration of the location’s debut.

Alaina Craig, who manages the new cafe and will supervise event rentals, said Jimmie’s employees are known for serving coffee with enthusiasm. She hopes to bring that youthful vibe to the new spot.

“I just see the potential of this place. It’s beautiful,” Craig said. “With the rental venue upstairs and everything, I’m just really excited to be a big part of everything.”

Craig said there is already a bridal shower planned for the venue area, and as the cafe gets started, she will discover what other kinds of things it could host, adding: “the potential is endless.”

Both Craig and Gemini Events coordinator Ashely Stotts noted the new cafe offers college students a new place to work and hang out, which is exciting given that the next closest sit-down cafe is several blocks away.

“It's nice to have a little community area that you can go and sit down. Their location is just spot on,” Stotts said, noting that she has been an “avid Jimmie’s drinker” since before the new shop opened.

“I’m really excited to be here,” Craig said. “I hope everyone else is, too.”
