Joseph "Ed" Borte

Joseph "Ed" Borte passed away Nov. 15, 2019, at home. He was born in 1946, to Anthony and Esther (Kalista) Borte. Ed was the oldest of six children.

He attended St. Mary's Academy and Toledo High School. Ed met his wife, Barbara Jean Harris in 1962, and they were married in 1966. He spent six years in the United States National Guard from 1965 to 1971. Ed drove truck for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years; daughters, Tracy (Jeff) Palermo and Theresa Borte Brown; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony (Felicia) and Alex Palermo, Dorrie (Justin) Wade, Kyle and Shelby Brown; three great-grandchildren, Jordan and Aaron Palermo and Alanna Wade; and his siblings, John Borte, Mary Blair and Christine Mershon.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret Melton and Angela Borte; and great-granddaughter, Cassidy Wade.

He was active in the Toledo community, including the Lions Club, Cowlitz Prairie Grange, the local car club and tractor club. Ed was larger than life and always had a joke or story ready.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at the Cowlitz Tribal Center on Spencer Road.
