Jury Convicts Centralia Man on Charges Related to Sexual Abuse of 13-Year-Old Girl

A jury has convicted Brian A. Westbrook, 40, of Centralia, on charges related to the repeated sexual abuse of a 13-year-old between December 2020 and June 2021. 

Westbrook's four-day jury trial ended Dec. 3 with the jury finding him guilty of 10 of the 12 charges he’d been accused of: four counts of second-degree rape of a child, five counts of second-degree child molestation and one count of fourth-degree assault. 

The jury acquitted Westbrook on two charges: one count of second-degree rape of a child and one count of harassment, threat to kill. 

He is being held at the Lewis County Jail without bail until his sentencing on Dec. 22. 

Westbrook was initially arrested in California on July 26 and was extradited back to Lewis County, where he has been imprisoned on a $500,000 bail since Aug. 25.



The victim’s mother first reported the abuse on June 24, which she said was the first time she was able to get herself and her children away from Westbrook.

Westbrook had reportedly indicated “that if the police were called, he would take her with him.” The victim;s mother said Westbrook “regularly talks about suicide by cop when police are brought up,” according to court documents.
