The Bearcats nickled and dimed their way to an Evergreen Conference win on Monday night at Recreation Park, with 10 hits and seven of them singles to beat Shelton 7-1.

Now at three consecutive wins, W.F. West (7-4, 4-2 EvCo) has scored at least six runs in the winning streak. It plated two runs apiece in the first and second innings, the final two on an Addie Froschauer two-run double. The No. 2 hitter in its lineup went 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored twice.

“When she’s hitting the ball and putting it in play, she can be a tough out,” Bearcats head coach Kevin Zylstra said of Froschauer.

Karlee Coleman added two hits, including a double, while Avalon Myers added two RBIs on a single and sacrifice fly. Taylor Tobin struck out 11 in six innings in the circle for the Bearcats. They face Aberdeen on Wednesday, nine days after Grand Canyon recruit Lilly Camp finished with 18 strikeouts.

“They’re chomping at the bit to get another shot at her,” Zylstra said. “It is going to be tough, but we like tough.”
