Taylor Langhaim and Greenlee Clark combined for 36 points — 18 each — and the Toledo ran away from Morton-White Pass in the second half for a 62-48 road victory Tuesday in Central 2B League play.

It was a rewarding win for the Riverhawks, who’ve been playing shorthanded during a rough, six-game stretch over the past seven days.

“Our girls played well and have been gutting it out,” Toledo coach Randy Wood said.

The Riverhawks did most of their damage in the second half after battling the Timberwolves to a 24-24 stalemate at halftime. Toledo then ripped off a 17-11 run in the third quarter and a 21-13 run in the final frame to secure the win.

“Morton-White Pass played well and has improved quite a bit,” Wood said. “We were just more patient on offense and worked the ball side to side and got it to Taylor and Clark.”

MWP was led by Natalya Armstrong’s team-high 17 points, while Kaliya Sams added 11 points and McKenzee Mays finished with 10.

“The first half was the best we played all year,” MWP coach Curt Atkinson said. “We did a great job slowing down their posts. We came out flat in the third, but I couldn’t have been more proud of how we played.”

Morton-White Pass hosts Adna on Thursday in a C2BL matchup.

Toledo was set to face Wahkiakum on Thursday but the Mules are on COVID protocol. The Riverhawks will head to Stevenson on Monday if they can’t find a replacement game before that.
