The Pe Ell girls basketball team saw a 15-point lead disappear Tuesday evening in Battle Ground, but came back in the nick of time to beat Columbia Adventist 39-38 in 1B CVL play.

Down three going into the final minute, Karli Phelps — who had scored just one point in the first 31 minutes of action — buried a 3-pointer to tie the game at 38-38. As the clock wound down, Pe Ell got one final possession, and Phelps drew a foul and hit a free throw with 10 seconds left to give the Trojans the final lead.

Charlie Carper led the Trojans with 18 points, and Brookelynn King added eight.

Pe Ell will take on the Washington School for the Deaf on Wednesday.
