In another big game in the 2A Evergreen Conference standings, the Centralia softball team, tied with Aberdeen heading into the seventh, gave up a 3-spot and couldn’t make up the difference late in a 7-4 loss at Recreation Park in Chehalis Friday afternoon.

Hollynn Wakefield pitched a strong game for the Tigers, throwing a complete game with 12 strikeouts, giving up seven runs, with five earned, on nine hits and five walks.

At the plate, Jimena Luis tied the game for the Tigers in the fifth inning with a home run that scored three runs. Lauren Wasson went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored, and Grace Schofield went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a walk drawn.

The loss drops the Tigers to fifth in the league standings, after Rochester defeated W.F. West, one spot out district contention with two games still to play.

The Tigers are still alive for the last district spot with games against Tumwater on Monday and Rochester on Wednesday next week to wrap up their regular season.
