Law enforcement officials arrested two people and seized 102 fentanyl pills, as well as other evidence associated with drug distribution, following a search of a residence in the 900 block of Byham Road in Winlock on Wednesday.
The two suspects, Aunalisa Delories Rose Dodds, 22, and Zacheriah Shawn Dunivin, 23, both of Winlock, were each charged with one count of violation of the uniform controlled substance act in Lewis County Superior Court on Thursday, June 1.
Bail was set at $25,000 each.
A news release sent out by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday about the incident and the affidavit of probable cause filed in Lewis County Superior Court the same day had differing accounts of what led to the search of the Winlock residence and the subsequent arrest.
According to the news release published by the sheriff’s office, the investigation came out of a multi-agency emphasis patrol involving the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Napavine and Winlock police departments.
“During an investigative contact in the 900 block of Byham Road, Winlock, information was developed to obtain a search warrant for the residence,” the sheriff’s office stated in the news release.
Court documents, however, state deputies responded to a report a woman, later identified as Dodds, was having a seizure.
Deputies arrived at the address in the 900 block of Byham Road and spoke with Dunivin, who said, “Dodds was having a seizure in the upstairs room of the residence,” according to the affidavit of probable cause, which was created by a deputy prosecutor using information from the sheriff’s office’s incident report.
The affidavit states, “Dodds eventually came out of the residence and appeared to be fine,” but does not specify whether she received medical aid for the seizure.
Once she exited the residence, “Dodds and Dunivin were questioned about rumors they were both dealing controlled substances, and they both denied doing so,” according to the affidavit.
Court documents do not specify the origin of the “rumors” referenced in the affidavit; however, The Chronicle confirmed the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) sent an email to a Lewis County Sheriff’s Office detective in October 2022 stating, “JNET has received information regarding fentanyl being cooked on Byham Road in Winlock” and requested permission for JNET to investigate the complaint “if the sheriff’s office is not able to follow up on this in a timely manner.”
There was no response to that email, according to documents obtained by The Chronicle via a public records request.
After speaking to deputies on Wednesday, May 31, both suspects reportedly consented to a search of the Byham Road residence, which resulted in deputies locating 30 fentanyl pills, according to the affidavit.
Deputies then obtained a search warrant for the residence and returned for a more in depth search, which resulted in deputies finding the rest of the fentanyl pills, bringing the total to 102 pills, as well as 80 baggies, a digital scale and cash.
At that point, Dodds and Dunivin were both taken into custody, according to the affidavit.
When questioned after their arrest, Dunivin allegedly “admitted to selling fentanyl to maintain his habit,” according to the affidavit. Dodds reportedly “refused to speak with the deputies.”
Arraignment hearings are scheduled for Thursday, June 8.
