Letter: Morton, Napavine, Toledo and Winlock Police Chiefs Support Snaza for Sheriff

The oath. It is a pledge. To place our personal needs aside and place the needs of those we serve to the forefront. We pledge ourselves to the street. We do so to ensure that our communities are safe. We place ourselves between those who would wish to bring harm and the people we proudly serve. We endeavor to be our best selves in the face of ever-changing challenges. For our small agencies, these challenges can often seem insurmountable.

We depend on partnerships and trust in those we serve alongside to get the job done. In Lewis County, with a population growing over 80,000 spread out across 2,436 square miles, there are unique and specific challenges for our varying communities. From our county seat in Chehalis, west to Pe Ell, Napavine, Toledo and Winlock, and east to Morton and Mossyrock as well as our Randle and Packwood communities, each of our areas have their own needs and issues facing their community members. Law enforcement is going through the most daunting challenges ever seen. As stated before, we need to work together to meet the challenges ahead. From vehicles to assistance with large scale events as well as assistance with training our law enforcement officers, to making sure our voices are heard when it comes to our communications center. Our Lewis County Sheriff's Office has been a steadfast supporter of our agencies, thanks to the leadership of Sheriff Rob Snaza. Under Sheriff Snaza, partnerships with the small agencies have been a sincere priority. We would not be able to meet the demands of our mission alone.

Sheriff Snaza has made every effort to ensure small agencies have equal representation in every aspect facing law enforcement in our county. Our founders pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor in defense of liberty. Sheriff Snaza has not forgotten his pledge, his oath, and taken his pledge, no less serious than their own. He has kept his oath to the people, to our U.S. and Washington constitutions. He continues to pledge his support to agencies serving in Lewis County.

We are grateful for the partnership we share with our Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. There have been 38 elected sheriffs in Lewis County. It is not yet time for the 39th. We proudly support Sheriff Rob Snaza and pledge our support as he seeks to continue his mission as our Lewis County sheriff and serving we the people of Lewis County, Washington.
