Letter to the Editor: Chronicle Continues Anti-Trump Bias

Posted

Last fall, I wrote a letter stating my frustration with the Chronicle for publishing 90-plus  percent anti-Trump articles. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. The Chronicle’s Editor, Natalie Johnson continues to publish negative articles about President Donald Trump rather than balancing her article selection.

On June 20, Ms. Johnson chose to publish a story about President Trump kicking off a reelection bid. At first glance, I was pleased to finally have a positive story but sadly after reading two to three paragraphs, it was the same anti-Trump bias.

If you watched the campaign rally, you would have seen 20,000-plus enthusiastic attendees with thousands more wanting to attend.  You would have heard some of President Trump’s accomplishments in his first two-plus years in office such as:

• Lowest unemployment ever

• More people working ever

• Biggest tax cut in our history (which has helped stimulate our economy)

• Record high stock market (which benefits everyone with retirement accounts)

• Oil independence.  Biggest oil producer in the world

• Cleanest air and water ever

• Constantly fighting illegal immigration with no help from the Democrats. His latest victory was threatening Mexico with high tariffs. Mexico has now agreed to provide 6,000 Mexican military personnel to help protect our border. Illegals are now being deported back to Mexico while they wait for asylum.

There were probably hundreds of news articles about the President’s first rally which would have listed his accomplishments but Ms. Johnson chose an article that says Trump ‘is seeking to be re-elected to avoid prosecution.’ This continues to be a disgusting display of anti-Trump bias.

We are forced to endure the never ending ‘Hate Trump’ national media but we don’t have to accept it from our local newspaper.  On June 1, 2019, Dan and Donna Treat expressed the same sentiment in a Letter to the Editor.

I encourage other readers to express their opinions as well. If you want a more balanced newspaper; let the Chronicle know by writing your own letter to the editor.

(NOTE: My title for this letter is ‘Chronicle Continues Anti-Trump Bias.’  Ms. Johnson often chooses to create her own title.)
