Letter to the Editor: Making Predictions for the Year 2030

Posted

It is 2030 and here in Washington state Jay Inslee is still the governor after three failed attempts at becoming president. He continually runs on a green campaign, though many scientists are now admitting carbon pollution is partly due to our world going through an environmental change. China and many other nations’ cities are smog covered because they refuse to change. Every year, he bankrupts the state police protection detail fund traveling throughout the world exhorting his agenda.

California is continually reeling from blackouts as their grids cannot handle the demand. Washington has what is called rolling blackouts. It has gotten to where odd and even number homes are designated for the next blackout. Oregon isn’t as bad because the new governor has gone back to many electrical plants being on fossil fuels. All cars in Washington must be electric, otherwise you pay a fossil fuel tax that is thousands of dollars. Because the state sells very little fuel for transportation, there is an electricity tax for vehicles that is 15 percent. The lines of people waiting to fuel their cars with electricity continue to block many highways as they extend from the rest areas.

The homeless crisis has many electric sites blocked because the rest areas have become home to these people. Thousands of vehicles are stranded as WSDOT tries to get to them for charging their dead batteries. Thousands of workers miss work every day because they can’t charge their cars at home because of the blackouts. Supply production and deliveries are sporadic as semis try to get their electric trucks charged. Congress has an investigative committee looking into hundreds of defense vehicle crashes, especially planes, due to faulty Chinese batteries. All teachers in Washington must have an interpreter in the classroom because of the number of illegal immigrants. Many school systems have collapsed due to the costs of operation. Food shortages are common as farmers struggle to find fuel for their equipment. There are no longer street lamps for lighting as the grids cannot handle the load. All factories are shut down at night. There is no night shift. The load for powering these plants is just too much. The landscape is overflowing with wind turbines and solar panels. All homes sold today must have solar panels installed. The noise pollution from these wind turbines has caused thousands of suicides each year because of the stress created from the loud whoosh sound. Inslee is thinking of creating a mandate to wear earphones.

These are just a few of my ideas of what is in store for the citizens of Washington. Happy trails to you, as Roy used to sing.
