Letter to the editor: Our government can’t keep printing money and giving it away

Posted

Just one last important question before the election: do you balance your checkbook?

If so, you’re possibly a conversative, or at least more so than you claim to be. The definition of a conservative is someone who tends to conserve or preserve and is careful with their money, saving it for a rainy day.

A liberal is more careless with their money, spending it or giving it away, whether they can afford to or not.

This is the main thing that separates the left from the right.

If you’re not paying close attention to your balance, you’re most likely spending more than you take in. You’ll run out of money for the important things. You’ll have a bad credit score and possibly go bankrupt and lose your home or not be able to buy one in the first place.

Our government can’t keep printing money just to give it away to those who shouldn’t have it. Our deficit is higher than ever (meaning: we have less in our federal bank than we are spending). Think seriously about this issue: If it were your household, wouldn’t you do better? And try hard to remember how much better our economy was four years ago.

Memories help us to see what used to be if you’re willing to admit it.
