We would like to express our support and appreciation to our Lewis County commissioners for the recent position that they took regarding dealing with the encampments in our county.
For a long time now there have been government promises, raised taxes and housing offered to vagrants, and the situation never seemed to improve, and actually seemed to get worse.
These poor folks were no closer to living a safe, decent, drug-free life. On the contrary, it seemed to enable them and prolong their struggling existence.
For the people that have fallen on hard times and need a hand up, there are still options with nonprofits available to them, thankfully, and reaching out to them should be encouraged. Meanwhile, we give our thanks to the commissioners who drew the line, and hopefully we will see improvement in everyone’s lives.
