It is now plain that as Mitch McConnell predicted, there is no trial occurring in the Senate of the United States of America to determine if the sitting president should be removed from office based upon the Articles of Impeachment presented to the Senate by the House of Representatives, as prescribed by the Constitution. Instead that the fix is in. GOP senators sleeping through the lawyers statements, only waking to vote in lockstep against calling witnesses, examining documents or doing anything remotely akin to a truth-seeking deliberative body. Instead we, the people of America, are being told we don’t matter, the truth doesn’t matter, the only thing that matters is the GOP will figuratively circle the wagons around their chosen one.If this weren’t the most serious challenge to our republic’s continued existence it would be comical. The House of Representatives’ manager makes impassioned statements outlining the case they are presenting for trial, and the lawyers for the president arguing about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Now, the depth of corruption that this administration, their enablers among our citizenry, and the one time “Party of Lincoln” represent is plainly apparent for all humanity to witness.The stench of the rot of what used to be a great institution should never leave the nostrils of anyone who loves America.
