Letter to the Editor: Things Apparently Must Become Even Worse to Change Nation’s Direction

Posted

In September 1949, I began first grade, and I voted for the first time in 1961 at age 21. During my adult years, I voted Republican, being of a conservative bent.

I have noted that before 2009, Democrats and Republicans, although disagreeing in many areas, recognized each other’s right to an opinion. Both parties respected each other, the Constitution and the idea of “follow the law.”

When Barack Obama became president, without my vote, I surmised that the idea that the U.S. was a racist country would be put to bed, since of the wealthy countries in the world, only the U.S. had a black head of state.

President Obama declared that he would “fundamentally change the U.S.” So far he and the governing Democrats, some Republicans and now President Joe Biden are certainly succeeding in that “fundamental change,” changing our freedom loving democratic republic into their tyrannical socialist government.

Our present Democrat-run government is attempting to change by “divide and conquer,” that is label us and separate us into opposing interest groups, make us hate each other. This the formerly “Free Americans,” distrusting and hating each other, will demand more government protection, help and control, trading freedom for security and achieving neither.

Notable in this effort is the Democrats’ action of accusing conservative Republicans of being “enemies of democracy” and of being “terrorists.” Our governing Democrats are trying to eliminate all who disagree with them and create a one party state, like communist China.

It is impossible for me to understand why, as reflected in the results of the recent election, most Democrats and some Republicans overlook $5 gas, huge increases in crime, 8% inflation, millions of immigrants illegally crossing our borders and numerous other problems, all happening after Biden became our president. How do Democrats now feel about President Biden illegally and without precedent forcing on the railroad union members a contract they did not agree to?

It appears that all of our problems must get much worse before enough voters will realize that we must vote out the socialist Democrats that are running our country in the ground and change to leaders who love the country that defeated fascism in World War II and put men on the moon in 1969.
