Letter to the editor: Trump is doing what he promised, eliminating federal waste

Posted

Doug Findley’s recent letter missed the entire point of what President Trump is doing with our federal agencies.

If Mr. Findley took the time to listen to Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, he would know and understand rather than spouting the Democrats’ party line.

Elon Musk, co-head of DOGE, has no power to cut any expenses or fire anyone. He serves at the president’s pleasure and is going through the budgets of several Departments line by line. The waste he is uncovering is staggering, and Ms. Leavitt is providing the proof to the press pool every day.

Unfortunately, the liberal press would rather incite violence rather than print the truth. They seem to have ignored AOC and Maxine Waters stating that they have declared war on this administration and have actually suggested that people take to the streets, be violent, if necessary, to stop President Trump. I believe the sound bites are on YouTube.

Politico subscriptions totaling $991,000 in one department, and there are similar subscriptions and amounts in every department.

For the Department of Agriculture, $25,000,000 for DEIA assessment and training, and another $920,000 for DEIA management and data analytics? And there are DEIA program expenditures in most every department. There was $23,497,752 for program management office support to one company in Chicago.

USAID sent $45,288,500 to Burma community leaders of vulnerable groups for access to education. This government can’t even educate our own children, so why are we supporting this in Burma?

Another $51,561,586 from USAID for inclusion and sustainability activity in east Africa.

The DOGE website goes for hundreds of pages of single contracts throughout the government departments listing their contracts and expenses, including copies of the actual contracts, who receives the money, and what it’s for.

These are the kinds of expenses and government waste that President Trump promised to eliminate in order for taxpayer dollars to go to things in support of the taxpayers. He promised to make his administration’s aim to put America and Americans first.

And he’s doing exactly that.

So, Mr. Findley, try doing some research before just spouting the liberal party line.
