Letter to the Editor: Vaccine Concern Understood, But Mandate Should Come After FDA Approval

Posted

I read with interest both letters in the Saturday Chronicle: the one from Andrew Boehm and the one from Ann Bhagwandin.

Those letters made me think back to when I was a child, and my father told me about smallpox and polio and how relieved he was when he was able to have us three kids vaccinated against polio.

My best friend (who lives in Portland) and I got our COVID-19 shots as soon as they were available to us. My friend’s brother has not gotten the vaccine because it has not yet received FDA approval.

We understand his concern.

However, as soon as the vaccine is approved, I believe it should be mandated. That is the only way to do away with this terrible pandemic.
