While 60 judges found no significant evidence of voter fraud, many members of the Republican Party support Trump’s lie that the 2020 election was stolen. They are important people — party leaders who refuse to repudiate the lie. They are backed up by media outlets such as Fox and the lie is repeated over and over, month after month. This delusion caused Trump believers to become angry over a perceived injustice and easy to manipulate. With the encouragement of Trump, they attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
The smearing and denigrating of the party in power never quits. Violence in speech and action is now an option for many Republicans.
We need to turn away from behavior antithetical to freedom. We need to support democracy because democracy and the rule of law support us. Vote for the candidates who are clearly on the side of democracy and the rule of law.
