Investigators have yet to determine the cause and manner of death for a 25-year-old Centralia man who was found dead in Fort Borst Park on Saturday.

The Lewis County Coroner’s Office positively identified the man Tuesday morning as Griffyn Dollarhyde.

Lewis County 911 Communications received a call from a citizen regarding an unconscious person at Fort Borst Park at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 3, according to call logs.

Responding officers with the Centralia Police Department located the body, which “appeared to be a transient male,” in a picnic shelter, according to a news release.

About 15 minutes after the initial call came in, the Lewis County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to the scene.

While Dollarhyde’s cause and manner of death are “pending toxicology and further forensic studies,” according to Lewis County Coroner Warren McLeod, the Centralia Police Department said Tuesday “there were no outward signs of foul play at the time of the initial investigation and preliminary tests performed by the Lewis County Coroner’s Office indicate that illegal drugs were present in Dollarhyde’s body.”

The case is still under investigation. The Centralia Police Department asks anyone with information on the incident to contact Detective Timothy Odell via the department’s non-emergency line: 360-740-1105.
