Lewis County Public Utility District staff donate $1,000 to local food banks

Employees of the Lewis County Public Utility District (PUD) donated $1,000 to the Lewis County Food Bank Coalition (LCFBC) ahead of the holiday season.

The funds, which were raised entirely by employee donations, were donated on Dec. 17. According to the LCFBC, each dollar donated to the organization provides at least $1.72 worth of food to nine food banks throughout Lewis County.

“The Lewis County PUD team appreciates the work the Lewis County Food Bank Coalition accomplishes for our community and is proud to be able to support their mission with this donation,” the PUD said in a statement announcing the donation.

Since 1988, the LCFBC has served as a central warehouse for Lewis County, with the organization collecting food donations from the public, companies and sponsors and distributing the food to volunteer-run food banks. The LCFBC supports food banks in Chehalis, Centralia, Mineral, Morton, Pe Ell, Salkum, Toledo, White Pass and Winlock.

According to the organization, the LCFBC provides food to approximately 5,900 residents a month. To learn how to donate, go to lcfbc.net/ways-to-donate

Community-owned, the PUD provides infrastructure, power and telecommunication services to roughly 35,000 customers in Lewis County and surrounding areas.
