Loggers battle back but fall to Knights

The Onalaska boys basketball team battled back from an early deficit against King’s Way Christian on Thursday, but ultimately fell 55-50.

“That’s a good team that we were up against,” Onalaska coach Fred Sturza said. “I saw lots of improvement today.”

Because of the way KWC was playing defense early, the Loggers were forced to take their chances from deep, but they weren’t having much success. As a result, they entered the second quarter down eight.

Sturza said that once they began attacking the rim, they were able to chip away at the lead.

Blaze Underhill led the offensive surge, scoring 21 points, while Case McGraw added 11. Nick Rushton and Cooper Lawrence both scored five.

“Just proud of the guys,” Sturza said. “They continue to fight. It helps set us up to get back into league play.”

The Loggers (3-6, 3-4 C2BL) have a non-league matchup before getting back into league play, as they’ll host Raymond-South Bend on Saturday.
