Loggers Fall to Chinooks, Clinch Fourth Seed For Districts

Posted

To beat the league champs, you need to play almost perfectly. Coming out flat against Kalama, the Onalaska volleyball team fell short in a sweep, 25-9, 25-8, 25-21, Wednesday night.

The Chinooks rarely made mistakes in the win, and frustrated the Loggers with multiple hitters and strong players at the net.

Morgan Hamilton led the Loggers with seven kills and four assists, Hannah James had five kills, and Dakota Hamilton had three kills, two block kills, 10 assists, and five aces.

Though they started off slow, coach Jen Hamilton was proud of the Loggers effort and resilience in the third set, when Dakota ripped off all five of her aces and they gave the Chinooks a fight.

“They settled down and started to play well in that third set,” Jen Hamilton said. “They were just a bit shell-shocked at the beginning.”

Though the loss stings for Ony, it doesn’t negate the strong season it had in league play, with just two losses.

The Loggers own the fourth seed in the C2BL standings and as it stands now, would head to Raymond for the first rounds of the district tournament on Saturday.
