Loggers Go 1-1 at Districts, Face Forks in Elimination Round

Onalaska started off strong with a sweep in the opening round, ran into 2B Pacific League champion Raymond in round two and is now in the loser’s bracket after Day 1 of the 2B District 4 tournament Saturday in Raymond.

Facing Northwest Christian (Lacey) in the opening match, the Loggers cruised to victory (25-11, 25-20, 25-18).

Morgan Hamilton punched a match-high 11 kills with 100% serving and 17 digs. Senior Hannah James added six kills and 18 digs, Desi Smith had 16 digs and 100% serving and Dakota Hamilton registered four kills and dished out 18 assists.

In the second round against a 14-1 Raymond squad, the Loggers jumped out to a 25-22 victory in the first set and then fell in three straight (25-12, 25-12, 25-18).

“We came out hot,” Onalaska coach Jenny Hamilton said.



The Loggers’ back row was forced to contend with Raymond’s 5-foot-11 outside hitter Kyra Gardner, who is signed to play basketball for Washington State University.

Morgan Hamilton led the Loggers with 15 kills, 27 digs and was 10 for 11 servings. Smith dug 23 balls and served 100%, while James had seven kills, 25 digs and was 10 for 11 serving.

Also contributing was Dakota Hamilton with 21 assists, two kills, one block kills and 20 for 20 serving, and Jen Lipsey added three blocks and 100% serving. Andi Oliver tallied one kill, two block kills and also served 100%.

“Jen did excellent all day and served 100% in both matches,” Hamilton said.

Onalaska will now face Forks in a loser-out match at 4 p.m., Wednesday, at Napavine High School.
