Loggers No Match for Chinooks in Regular-Season Finale

Jackson Esary scored a game-high 30 points and Onalaska was unable to keep up with the Chinooks as the Loggers were handed a 75-44 defeat at home Wednesday in their regular-season finale.

The Loggers hung tough for the first quarter, trailing just 12-11 entering the second quarter, but Kalama reeled off a 23-8 run before the half and never looked back. Easary was 12 of 19 from two-point land on the night.

“They came out in man-to-man and we got them out of that,” Onalaska coach Wayne Nelson said. “Then they gave us a 1-3-1 and we didn’t handle it very well. That’s our Achilles heel.”

The Loggers were outrebounded 44-27, and were led offensively by Kole Taylor’s 10 points and Mason Ulery’s nine points.

Onalaska is the No. 9 seed and will now head to No. 1 Kalama for the opening round of playoffs at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
