Loggers Sweep Twin Bill With Cardinals

In a pair of dominant wins, the Onalaska softball team swept Winlock at home Saturday morning, with the first game counting toward the Central 2B standings, 10-0 and 29-9. 

In the first game, a 10-0 league victory for the Loggers, Ony sophomore Lisa Liddell nearly pitched a shortened perfect game, allowing just one baserunner on a walk and pitching a no-hitter. Liddell struck out 13 batters in five innings pitched. 

At the dish, Randi Haight went 3 for 4, Kate Zandell had a bases-clearing base hit for three RBIs, Yuliana Escalera knocked in two runs on a base knock, and Liddell went 2 for 3. 

In Game 2, a 29-9 non-league win for Onalaska, the Loggers were led by Zandell’s 4 for 4 day at the plate. Cadence Cantrell went 3 for 5, and Kaiyah Sandridge went 2 for 3. 

Winlock scored some runs in the second contest, with Cali Geehan going 3 for 3 and Madison Rohman going 2 for 3 for the Cardinals. 

Eighth-grader Braelyn Babb started the second game and had eight strikeouts with just one walk, with just three of the nine Winlock runs earned. 

The Loggers take on Adna on Monday in a doubleheader, while Winlock heads to Cathlamet for a doubleheader against Wahkiakum.
