When the Onalaska boys soccer team first played Kalama three weeks ago, the Loggers played well, but lost by one. Onalaska coach Luis Magana said that the team felt like it should have won that matchup, and the Loggers got another chance on Monday.

“Today, we were at full force,” Magana said. “And it showed.”

The Loggers dominated for a majority of the game on its home field, taking down Kalama 4-1 to notch their first win in program history.

Onalaska took control early, as Akel Iverson scored in just the fourth minute of the game.

Noland Brady scored in the 14th and 36th minute to record a brace, and Adrian Garcia tacked on a goal of his own in the 55th minute to make it 4-0.

Kalama was able to get on the board late to prevent the shutout, something Magana said Christofer James in net. James finished with six saves.

In addition to his two goals, which put him at eight goals on the season, Brady assisted on the other two goals.

Magana said that he’s happy that he was able to help the Loggers get their first win, noting that he’s seen substantial improvement over the course of the season.

“It’s great to see a small town like Onalaska that has a passionate group of soccer players in a town known for football,” Magana said. “The community has been so supportive, and I am happy we could give them at least one ‘dub’ at home to celebrate. These boys have been working hard all season, and they definitely deserved it.”

Onalaska (1-13, 1-13 1A Trico) will head to Fort Vancouver on Wednesday for its final road game of the season before returning home to face King’s Way Christian in its season finale.
