Loggers top Comets for third consecutive victory

The Onalaska volleyball team logged its third-straight win on Monday, as the Loggers swept Naselle 25-22, 25-12, 25-21.

“We still played up and down a little, but much better than in the past,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon. “We just have to get to the point that we are steady and confident. This team is working hard and they are pushing each other every night out to get better.

Emalie Jacoby led the Loggers in kills (19) and digs (17), while Leah Hamilton added seven kills and Capri McGraw logged 11 digs.

Sommer Hammer recorded five blocks and two aces, while Faith Hammer had six blocks and Braelyn Babb dished out 23 assists.

It’s Onalaska’s third-straight win in a WIAA match, but the Loggers also tallied several wins in short matches at the North Beach Tournament over the weekend.

Onalaska beat Neah Bay (25-20), Ocosta (25-17), Willapa Valley (25-13), and Morton-White Pass (25-18, 25-13) before falling to Hoquiam (21-25, 25-27) in the championship.

Over the course of the day, Jacoby tallied 37 kills, 23 digs, and five aces, while Sommer Hammer logged 13 kills, 11 digs, and six blocks.

Faith Hammer recorded 10 kills and four blocks, while Hamiton also added 10 kills and added eight digs. Babb dished out 44 assists, while McGraw recorded 24. Maleah Stewart delivered seven aces and Karsyn Koenig blocked five balls.

The Loggers (4-1) will be back in action on Tuesday, when they head to Napavine.
