Loggers Use Early Lead to Fend Off Tigers

Onalaska’s four-run fourth inning proved to be all the Loggers would need to secure an 8-2 victory over Napavine on the road Thursday.

The Loggers tallied just seven hits on the day, led by Jeremy Larson’s 2-for-5 performance at the plate with two runs scored. Lethon Fitch added two walks and three runs, while Domanic Serl and Lane Zandell each drove in two runs.

Lethon Fitch pitches a complete-game, four-hitter, striking out seven and walking none with just one earned run on 96 pitches.

Austin Chapman scored both of the Tigers’ runs, going 2 for 3 at the plate while Scott Burdick (1-3, two RBIs) and Gavin Parker (1-3) collected the Tigers’ only other hits.

Parker went 3.1 innings on the mound, striking out six and walking four while allowing six hits. Connor Holmes had 2 Ks in two innings and Burdick fanned three in 1.2 innings.

“Ony took it to us,” Napavine coach Brian Demarest said. “They wanted it more and we didn’t compete. Ony threw strikes and we didn’t. Ony made the routine playes, we didn’t.”

Napavine takes on Mossyrock in a non-league contest on Thursday, March 31. Onalaska heads to Kalama on Monday.
