In a critical Central 2B League matchup between middle-of-the-pack squads, the Onalaska softball team dispatched Toutle Lake on the road Monday afternoon, 9-5, before the second game was called due to rain in Cowlitz County.

The Loggers’ offense got going fast, putting three runs on the board in the opening inning before adding six more in the fourth and fifth innings.

“They're starting to put it together,” Ony coach Rich Teitzel said. “I told them the second half of the season you gotta be playing ball, and they are.”

Desi Smith went 2 for 4 at the leadoff, scoring two runs and knocking in three runs with a walk and a double. Lisa Liddell went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Jaelyn Auman went 1 for 3, laying down a perfect bunt while also scoring a run.

Liddell pitched a complete game in the circle, giving up five runs on eight hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.

The Loggers will hope to make up a league contest against Winlock on Saturday for their next matchup.
