Man Convicted in Centralia Child Molestation Case

A Lake Stevens man will serve 30 months in jail for allegedly molesting a girl in Centralia.

The defendant, Juan Ramon Pena Palomera, 33, entered an In-Re Barr plea — admitting to a substitute charge he didn’t commit to take advantage of a plea bargain — for one count of second-degree child molestation, domestic violence, on Oct. 15 and was sentenced in Lewis County Superior Court on Nov. 17.

Pena Palomera was initially arrested in August 2019 on charges of first-degree child molestation. The Lewis County Jail will calculate how much of his 30-month sentence Pena Palomera has already served while waiting for his case to wrap up, according to court documents.

After he is released from prison, he is required to serve three years in community custody and register as a sex offender.
