An 18-year-old man who is suspected of causing a November fatal crash in Pierce County surrendered to sheriff's deputies on Thursday.

Nickolas Levi Mallow Greinke was charged last week with vehicular homicide and failure to remain at an accident resulting in death. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest after law enforcement made multiple attempts to contact Greinke with no success, court records show.

Greinke surrendered at Pierce County Jail where he remains in custody. He is to be arraigned Friday afternoon, according to the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Greinke is accused of trying to pass traffic at a high speed in his pickup when he struck a Mustang and crashed in the 33000 block of 8th Avenue South. His 16-year-old girlfriend, Zoey Wiseman, was in the passenger seat and died.

Greinke initially fled, and witnesses said he returned three times to try and wake her up, court documents show.
