The Tumwater volleyball team won its seventh straight game on Thursday, dismantling the Rochester Warriors in convincing fashion, 25-9, 25-7, 25-7.

The game was close early in the first set, as the two teams were tied at eight at one point, but a long service run gave the Thunderbirds all the momentum they needed to run away with it.

“Any time you have to freeball or push … that’s definitely going to come back to bite you, and it did,” Rochester coach Bridget Morris said.

Brooklynn Hayes had an astonishing 10 aces on the night while adding three digs, while Paige Henderson had five kills and three aces of her own.

Tove Hugus led the Tumwater attack with seven kills, though Natalie Montoya-Kilmer wasn’t far behind with six. Bri Zavala also added four digs.

Taylor Koehn was the standout for the Warriors, serving three aces.

Tumwater doesn’t take the court next until next Thursday, Oct. 5 at home against Centralia, while Rochester is back in action Tuesday at W.F. West, where the Bearcats are still searching for their first win.
