Michael Jon “Mikey” Rasmusson, 73, of Bellingham, Wash., passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019, surrounded by family at Virginia Mason Hospital, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born Dec. 4, 1945, in La Grande, Ore.

Mike is will be deeply missed by his two sons, David (Daphne) Rasmusson and Craig (Sara) Rasmusson; four grandchildren, Kelci, Mya, Zack and Colby; and his younger brother, Alan Rasmusson.

Mike had fond memories growing up and attending high school in Chehalis, Wash. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  As a single father, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Washington University.  Mike later went on to have a successful career in banking for over 30 years and retired in Bellingham in 2015.

He, also known as “Pilot Mikey”, had his private pilot’s license and for many years he loved to fly his Ercoupe all around Washington. His other hobbies include fly fishing, traveling and reading. However, he enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.  

A celebration of life will be an inurnment held at 2 p.m.,  Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Claquato Cemetery, 142 Stearns Rd., Chehalis, WA 98532. Friends and family are welcome.
