Michael Laurence Ekstedt "Mike" "Ex" passed away at home surrounded by family on March 20 after a short battle with an aggressive form of cancer. He was born on June 17, 1952, to Mary and Larry Ekstedt in Bremerton, Washington. He is survived by his children, son Dane and daughter Ashley, four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, his brother Rich and his sister Debbie.

He was preceded in passing by his parents and sister Linda.

He graduated from Mount St. Helens High School in Winlock in 1970. He was a gifted athlete and excelled at baseball, basketball, slow pitch and football. He also loved to golf and spend time with his slow pitch teammates back in the day.

Mike worked for Lewis County Public Works for 27 years, later retiring. He loved having a party at his house on the Fourth of July, spending time with his family, and grilling the delicious hamburgers he was known for.

He was kind, funny, full of one-liners and had the best laugh.

"He will be forever missed, and always in our heart."
